Well, let me tell you, things ain’t been the same since that QVC gal passed. Folks ’round here, we don’t know much about fancy city stuff, but we sure did like watchin’ them sales shows on the TV. And that Beulah gal, she was somethin’ else. QVC model dies, they said. Heard it on the news, sad as a wet dog on a cold night.
Now, I ain’t no doctor, but they said she had some kinda brain thing. Somethin’ about the front part of her head not workin’ right. Dementia, they called it. It’s a terrible thing, seein’ someone go that way. Reminds you of old man Withers down the road, bless his heart. He used to be sharp as a tack, but then he started forgettin’ things, even his own name sometimes. It’s like their mind just starts unravelin’, like an old sweater. Real pity, it is.
- She was on that Slim ‘n Lift show, I remember.
- Always smilin’, she was.
- Made them clothes look good, even if they weren’t much to look at in the first place.
Folks ’round here, we liked her. She seemed real, you know? Not like them skinny models you see in magazines, all bones and no meat. Beulah, she looked like she enjoyed a good meal, like one of us. And that Amica dog she had. Always together they were. Saw a picture once, her and that dog, sweet as pie. They changed their Facebook picture to them two, real nice.
Heard tell she was on TV for a long time. Guess she sold a lot of them gizmos and gadgets. QVC, that’s the place where they sell all sorts of things you don’t need but end up buyin’ anyway. My daughter, she’s always orderin’ stuff from there. Says it’s easier than goin’ to the store. Me, I like to see what I’m buyin’ before I hand over my hard-earned cash. But them city folks, they do things different.
This Kathleen Kirkwood lady, she was another one gone too soon. A designer, they said. Made clothes and such. Sixty-two ain’t no age to go. Makes you think, don’t it? Here today, gone tomorrow. Gotta make the most of it, I reckon. Don’t wait around, is what I say.
And that table tennis fella, too. Never watched much ping pong myself, but heard he was real good. A legend, they said. Sports, it ain’t my thing, but I respect them that put in the work. Takes a lot of practice to be good at somethin’, whether it’s hittin’ a little ball or sellin’ clothes on TV. QVC model death makes you think of how short life can be.
It’s a shame, really. Seein’ folks pass on. Especially when they’re young or when they’re sufferin’. Makes you appreciate what you got, even if it ain’t much. Health, that’s the most important thing. You ain’t got nothin’ if you ain’t got your health. And family, of course. Gotta stick together, through thick and thin.
This whole QVC model death thing got me thinkin’. Life’s a funny thing. One minute you’re laughin’, the next you’re cryin’. One minute you’re up, the next you’re down. Gotta ride the waves, I guess. That’s all you can do. And remember the good times. Remember Beulah and her smile. Remember all them folks who brought a little bit of joy into the world. Even if it was just sellin’ stuff on TV.
Now, I gotta go make some supper. Got a pot of beans on the stove and some cornbread in the oven. Nothin’ fancy, but it’ll fill your belly. And that’s what matters, ain’t it? Good food, good company, and a roof over your head. The rest is just gravy, as they say. And remember, cherish every day, ‘cause you just don’t know what tomorrow will bring. This here QVC model dies stuff is proof enough of that. Bless their hearts, every last one of them.
