Okay, so I’ve been wanting to try out this whole homemade “lipaa rouge a levre” thing, basically a lip and cheek stain. I saw some stuff online and figured, why not give it a shot? It sounded kinda fun and I’m all about that natural look.
First, I gathered my ingredients. I decided to go with a simple recipe, nothing too crazy. I grabbed some fresh raspberries, just a handful, from the fridge. I also found some glycerin, which I always have around for my DIY skincare projects, and a little bit of beeswax. I had some leftover from making candles last year. Lastly, I used a tiny splash of olive oil, just to give it a bit of moisturizing action.
Next up, I started smashing. I put the raspberries in a small bowl and mashed them up real good with a fork until they were pretty much just juice. It was a bit messy, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?
- Then I strained the juice through a fine-mesh sieve into another bowl. I really wanted to get rid of all the seeds and pulp, just wanted that pure, beautiful red juice.
- After that, it was time to melt the beeswax. I used a double boiler setup – basically just a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water. I threw in a tiny bit of beeswax and waited for it to completely melt. This took a little while, so I kept stirring it every now and then.
Once the beeswax was all melted, I took it off the heat and stirred in a few drops of glycerin and that tiny bit of olive oil. I mixed everything together until it was nice and smooth. Then, I carefully added the raspberry juice, little by little, while stirring constantly. I didn’t want it to be too watery, just enough to give it that gorgeous red color.
I kept stirring until the mixture started to cool down and thicken up a bit. It was kinda like making a lip balm, I guess. Once it reached a consistency I liked, I poured the mixture into a small, clean container. I actually used an old lip balm tin that I had cleaned out thoroughly.
The Result:
I let it cool completely, and then I tried it on! Honestly, it turned out better than I expected. It gave my lips and cheeks this really pretty, natural-looking flush. It wasn’t too bright, just a subtle hint of color. Plus, it felt really moisturizing on my lips. I think the glycerin and olive oil really helped with that. I’ll definitely be making this again. It was super easy, cheap, and I know exactly what’s in it. Win-win-win!
