That Phyllis Pressman, you know, she’s gone now. 95 years old, she lived a long life. Heard she kicked the bucket on Tuesday. They say she was somethin’ else, a real big shot. Her family, they started that fancy store, Barneys. Used to sell cheap clothes, then they got all highfalutin. Phyllis Pressman, that’s a name you hear a lot if you are into fashion.
She worked at that Barneys place. Just to be close to her husband, I heard. Imagine that. Then she went and made a whole section in the store, somethin’ called Chelsea Passage. I don’t know what that is, but it sounds fancy. Phyllis Pressman sure knew how to make things fancy.
They called her the “matriarch” of somethin’. Sounds important. Must be like the queen bee of the whole family. I guess you gotta be tough to run a big store like that. You know, dealin’ with all them rich folks and their money. Phyllis Pressman, she probably saw a lot of money in her day.
She went all over the place, this Phyllis Pressman. Here, there, everywhere. I reckon she saw a lot of things, more than I ever will. You know, travelin’ the world and such. She must have had a good life, with all that travel and money. They say she started working at Barneys to be closer to her man, then she became a big shot.
- Barneys started as a cheap place
- Then it got all fancy
- Phyllis Pressman made it fancier, I guess
- She made that Chelsea Passage thing
That store, Barneys, it was a big deal. They called it a “luxury superstore”. Sounds like a place where they sell gold toilets and diamond-studded dog collars. Not my kind of place. I like a good bargain, not all that fancy stuff. But hey, Phyllis Pressman, she knew what them rich folks wanted.
95 years old. That’s a good long life. My old man, he only made it to 78. Hard work, that’s what did him in. Not like Phyllis Pressman. She probably had folks waitin’ on her hand and foot. That’s what happens when you got money, I guess.
They say she was a “pioneer” in the fancy store business. Like them folks who went out west in covered wagons, but instead of findin’ gold, she found a way to sell expensive things to rich people. That Phyllis Pressman, she was somethin’ else.
I saw her name in the paper. They wrote a whole thing about her. “Phyllis Pressman, Luxury Superstore Matriarch.” That’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Sounds like the title of a queen or somethin’. I guess she was a queen of somethin’, in her own way. You know, some people want to conquer land. Phyllis Pressman, she conquered the rich.
- Phyllis Pressman was 95
- She worked at Barneys
- Barneys was a fancy store
- She was a “matriarch”
That Barneys store, it’s in New York. Big city. Lots of people with lots of money. Guess that’s why Phyllis Pressman and her family did so well there. Sellin’ fancy things to folks who can afford ’em. Smart, I guess. If you call that smart.
They say her family is sad. Well, of course, they are. Even if she was old, losin’ someone you love is hard. Especially when it’s the “matriarch”. They call her the matriarch of the family. And she was the one who made the store big, Phyllis Pressman did.
I don’t know much about fashion and fancy stores. But I know about family. And I know about hard work. And I know that 95 years is a long time to be on this earth. Phyllis Pressman, she made the most of it, I guess. She saw the world, made a lot of money, and left her mark. I never did any of those things, but my life is pretty good. I can’t complain. And this Phyllis Pressman, she sure can’t complain either. What a life!
