Okay, so, I’ve been following the Miss Universe pageant for a while now, and the national costume segment? It’s always a highlight for me. This year, the 73rd Miss Universe pageant’s national costume competition in 2024 – it was held in Mexico City, and let me tell you, it was something else.

First off, I started by digging up everything I could find online about the event. Videos, articles, photos – you name it. I wanted to see every single costume in detail. And what a ride it was! There were like, 130 contestants, each bringing their own flavor to the stage.
I spent hours just browsing through the photos of all those beautiful costumes. And I saw a lot of them, and saved some pictures that I liked. Then I watched some videos from the pageant. The way those ladies carried themselves, the stories behind their costumes – it was all so inspiring.
Then came the fun part – I started to sort out them into different types, right? Some were all about traditional ethnic wear, some were straight-up classy gowns, and some, well, let’s just say they were a bit out there, in a good way! It was like a mix of a Vegas show and a high-fashion runway. I felt like I’ve seen everything, even birds, trees, and elephants.
I even went on to read what some fashion experts and stylists were saying about these costumes. And I kept notes on my computer so that I could go back to them easily.
My Thoughts
After all that, I sat down and just let it all sink in. I thought about what each costume meant, the creativity, the effort that went into each piece. It was more than just a competition; it was like a celebration of culture and art.

And I even discussed it with some of my friends who also like Miss Universe, what a fun thing!
So, that’s pretty much my journey with the Miss Universe national costume segment this year. It was a blast, and I’m already looking forward to what they’ll come up with next year!
