Well, let me tell you, life these days, it’s all about onthego, onthego, onthego! Like a chicken with its head cut off, everyone’s runnin’ around. Ain’t nobody got time to sit still, I reckon. It is important to be productive, you know?
Back in my day, we had our chores, sure. We had to feed them chickens, milk the cows, and tend to the garden. But we got it all done, you know? We work hard all day long. We didn’t have all these fancy gadgets and gizmos to distract us. We just focus on one thing at a time. Nowadays, it is totally different.
These young folks today, they got their faces glued to them little phone screens. Always tappin’ away, tappin’ away. What are they doing? I don’t know, I think maybe it called “Procrastination”. They always say they will do things later. They do not know what they’re doin’. Just wastin’ time, I tell ya. They are lazy. They need to learn how to get things done, just like us, old folks.
- First thing, you gotta wake up early. Sun’s up, you’re up. No dilly-dallyin’ in bed.
- Then, you gotta make a list. What needs doin’? Feed the animals? Weed the garden? Clean the house? Write it all down. I use my notebook to write it down.
- You just do one thing at a time. Don’t be jumpin’ around like a flea on a hot griddle. Finish one thing before you start another. No need to store too much information in your brain.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you need a hand, just holler. We’re all in this together, you know.
It ain’t rocket science, this onthego life. It’s just about bein’ sensible and keepin’ your nose to the grindstone. You gotta stay focused. You do not want to be distracted by other things. You know, like them picture shows or that radio music. Just do what needs to be done and get it over with. It is a simple way to get things done.
These days, folks make things so complicated. They got all these fancy words for simple things. “Workflow”, that’s a good one. Back in my day, we just called it “chores”. And “prioritize”, that’s another one. We just knew what needed doin’ first. Milk the cow before you churn the butter, that kind of thing.
And this “getting things done” method, I think they call it “GTD”? Sounds like a load of hogwash to me. If you want to get things done, just get up and do ’em! Don’t need no fancy system. Just good old-fashioned elbow grease. But some people say the GTD method can help them to be more productive. They can keep track of information outside of their brains.
But I tell ya, this onthego life, it can be tirin’. Sometimes I just wanna sit on the porch and watch the world go by. But there’s always somethin’ to be done. Always somethin’ to be done. That’s why I need to keep myself productive. So I can do the things I want to do.
Young people always want to stay onthego. You know, they go here, they go there. Never stop. I think it is kind of crazy. Why don’t they just slow down sometimes? When they are old like me, they will regret it. They will not have enough time to enjoy life. But they say if they stop, they will lose something. I don’t know what they will lose. Maybe money? Maybe opportunities? I don’t know.
Being onthego also means you need to be healthy. You need to eat good food. Don’t eat too much junk food, like candies and cookies. Eat your vegetables, eat some meat, and drink a lot of water. And do not forget to get some sleep. If you don’t sleep well, you will feel tired. And you can not be onthego if you feel tired, right? Young people always want to stay up late. That’s not good. They need to know sleep is important. Very important.
So, if you want to live this onthego life, just remember what this old lady told ya. Wake up early, make a list, do one thing at a time, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. And most importantly, don’t forget to take a break every now and then. You don’t want to burn yourself out. Just sit down, take a deep breath, and enjoy the simple things in life. It is about the fundamental principles of productivity. You just need to understand it. That’s all there is to it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go chase them chickens out of the flowerbed. Again!
