This year that MTV thing, you know, the MTV Video Music Awards, it’s gonna be a big one, I tell ya. They say it’s gonna be on Long Island, wherever that is. And that Jennie girl, from that Blackpink group my grandkids keep yapping about, she’s gonna be there, I heard.
My grandkids, they just love those MTV things. They sit glued to the TV, hootin’ and hollerin’ at all them singers. I don’t know half of ’em, but they sure seem to have a good time. They say this Jennie MTV thing is gonna be somethin’ else. All them young folks singin’ and dancin’.
They say some girl named Katy Perry, she’s gettin’ some kinda special award. Video Vanguard, they call it. Sounds fancy. I reckon she must be pretty good to get an award like that. The MTV Music Awards always give these awards. My grandkids tell me all about it. I can hardly keep up!
And those Blackpink girls, they were on it last year, I think. My grandkids, they were so excited, jumpin’ up and down. They said that Lisa girl, she won somethin’ big. And now Jennie, she’s gonna be there this year. I heard them talking, saying she and that Jisoo girl were talking about Lisa’s big win. They must be real proud of her.
- That Chappell Roan, she will be there.
- And that Sabrina Carpenter.
- That Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion.
- Kelsea Ballerini, Anitta, and Diddy are all gonna be singin’ too.
- Fall Out Boy, Doja Cat, Karol G.
My grandkids showed me all these names. It is a long list. It is gonna be a long night I think. They all are gonna sing, that is what my grandkids said.
These MTV Video Music Awards, they always have somethin’ crazy happen. One time, this fella, Kanye West, he went up on stage and started yellin’ at that Taylor Swift girl. And then there was that time Madonna kissed them two other singers. Goodness gracious, it was a sight! My grandkids were shocked, but they still talked about it for weeks.
I don’t know all these young people’s music, but I know they sure do like it. It is on September 11th. That is what my grandkids said. They know everything about the MTV VMA’s. They said it starts at 8 o’clock. They said it is at the UBS Arena. My grandkids tell me you can watch it on that MTV website. You need to sign in or something. I don’t know how to do those things.
They say you can watch it on the computer, on that MTV website. Something about a 24-hour pass. I don’t rightly know what that means, but my grandkids, they’ll figure it out. They always do. They are smart kids.
These MTV awards, they happen all over the place, I hear. Sometimes in America, sometimes in other countries. They call them the Europe Music Awards, or somethin’ like that. Lots of times in England and Germany, they say. I’ve never been to any of them places, but it sounds like a big to-do.
This year that Dua Lipa girl, she will not be there. It is too far for her. She will be in London. Not in Miami. This Jennie from Blackpink will be there. She is very popular I hear. She is a big star, my grandkids tell me. It is a very big thing, this MTV Music Awards show.
Well, I reckon that’s all I know about this Jennie MTV Video Music Awards thing. My grandkids will tell me all about it after it’s over, I’m sure. They’ll be talkin’ about it for weeks, just like they always do. They are good kids, but they sure do love that MTV.
