Okay, let’s talk about this Sinn U50 watch I got my hands on. I’d been eyeing it for a while, you know, seeing pictures online and reading what other folks were saying about it. It looked pretty cool, and I’m a sucker for a good dive watch, so I finally decided to pull the trigger and order one.
When the package arrived, I tore into it like a kid on Christmas morning. The watch was inside this simple black box, nothing too fancy. I picked it up, and man, it felt solid. It’s made from this German submarine steel, which is supposed to be super tough. I’m not planning on going to war with it, but it’s nice to know it can handle a few bumps and bruises.
The first thing I did was put it on my wrist. It’s a 41mm watch, which is a good size for me. Not too big, not too small. The rubber strap it came with was surprisingly comfortable. I’ve had some watches with rubber straps that felt cheap and sticky, but this one was soft and felt good against my skin.
The Dial and Bezel
- I took a closer look at the dial. It’s a matte black, very simple and easy to read. The hands and markers are white and filled with lume, so you can see them in the dark. I tested this out by turning off the lights in my room, and yeah, it glowed pretty bright.
- The bezel is another thing I really liked. It’s also made from that submarine steel and has this black coating they call “Tegimented.” It’s supposed to be extra scratch-resistant. I haven’t exactly tried to scratch it on purpose, but it still looks brand new after a few weeks of wearing it.
- The bezel rotates in one direction, like a proper dive watch should. It has these nice, solid clicks as you turn it. It feels very precise and well-made. I probably won’t be using it for actual diving, but it’s fun to play with.
So, I’ve been wearing this Sinn U50 for a while now, and I gotta say, I’m impressed. It’s a tough, good-looking watch that feels great on the wrist. It’s definitely not the cheapest watch out there, but I think it’s worth the money. I can see myself wearing this one for a long time.
I’ve worn it to work, out to dinner, even just around the house. It’s one of those watches that just works with everything. I’ve gotten a few compliments on it too, which is always nice. If you’re looking for a solid, no-nonsense dive watch, I’d definitely recommend checking out the Sinn U50. You might just end up liking it as much as I do.
