So, I’ve been seeing this brand, COSRX, all over my TikTok and Instagram lately. Everyone’s raving about their snail mucin and pimple patches. It got me thinking, “Is COSRX actually Korean?” I mean, the name sounds kind of medical, not exactly like the cute K-beauty brands I’m used to. So, I decided to do some digging to find out the real origin of this product.
First, I checked out their official website. I scanned through their “About Us” page and noticed that they mention “over a decade of experience in Korean cosmetics.” That’s a good sign, but I needed more. Then, I browsed their product lineup, they have product lines like FULL FIT, PURE FIT, SHIELD FIT, and all that stuff, and found they have won many overseas and Korean awards. Well, seems they are quite popular.
Next, I hit up Amazon. COSRX products are all over there, and many are labeled “Amazon’s Choice” and best sellers, especially in the facial cleansing gel. This made me think they’re probably legit, or at least super popular globally, but did not convince me too much.
I then jumped onto beauty blogs and forums. A lot of people were talking about how COSRX is a cult favorite, not just in the US but in Korea too. Apparently, it’s not even a mainstream brand there, which I found interesting. It’s like a hidden gem, even in its home country. One blogger mentioned the brand was started in 2013 by a guy named Sangoon Jeon, and the name is just a mashup of “cosmetics” and “RX”.
After that, I headed to Reddit. There are tons of threads about COSRX, with users sharing their experiences. I even found a post saying Kim Soo Hyun is their brand ambassador. I know that guy! He’s a huge Korean actor.
My last stop was some news articles. I stumbled upon a piece saying that Amorepacific, a major Korean beauty company, now owns COSRX. That’s when it all clicked. Amorepacific is like the L’Oréal of Korea. They own Laneige, Innisfree, Etude House – all those big K-beauty names.
So, after all this internet sleuthing, here’s what I figured out. COSRX is definitely a Korean brand. It might not be as flashy as some others, but it’s got a solid reputation, backed by a major Korean beauty conglomerate. They’re like the cool, indie kid of the K-beauty world. I guess it’s time for me to finally try that snail mucin everyone’s talking about!
