Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another deep dive into my latest obsession. This time, it’s all about Unimatic watches. I stumbled upon this brand a few weeks back, and let me tell you, I’ve been down the rabbit hole ever since. So, I started digging, you know, as one does when they get hooked on something new.
First, I hit up the usual spots – forums, articles, any place where watch nerds hang out. I wanted the lowdown on what makes Unimatic tick. Turns out, these guys are relatively new to the game, founded in 2015 in Italy. I found that Unimatic was started by a couple of Italian guys, Giovanni Moro and Simone Nunziato. They met at the Politecnico di Milano, where they both studied industrial design, they bonded over their shared love for watches, among other things.
Here’s what I gathered:
- 2015 was the year it all began. These two industrial designers from Milan, Italy, decided to create their own watch brand.
- Modello Uno was their first baby. I read that this was the watch that put them on the map.
- They’re all about that minimalist design. Clean, simple, and to the point. No extra fluff.
- They handle quality control in-house. From what I’ve seen, they really care about the quality of each watch, doing all the water-resistance testing and casing in Milan.
- They keep the prices real. I found that the Modello Uno is priced at around 675 EUR, and the Modello Quattro is about 600 EUR. I’d say it is not too bad for these well-made timepieces.
Then, I went a bit deeper. I started looking into the history of watches themselves. It is wild to think that these things evolved from portable spring-driven clocks back in the 15th century. By the 16th century, they were already a thing in Europe. I even saw a picture of a 16th-century portable drum watch with a sundial. It had a 24-hour dial with Roman numerals on the outside and Hindu-Arabic numerals on the inside. Crazy, right?
Diving into Unimatic’s Partnerships
I also learned that Unimatic isn’t just about making their own watches. I discovered they’ve teamed up with some big names to create some pretty unique pieces. They’ve become a rising star in the microbrand world, and these collaborations have only added to their cool factor. They are changing the landscape of Italian watchmaking, that is something I can feel.
After all this digging, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one for myself. I mean, all this research had to lead somewhere, right? The whole process got me even more hyped. I kept imagining myself wearing it, feeling that minimalist design on my wrist. It’s like joining a secret club of watch enthusiasts who appreciate good design and a good story. Unless you’re living under a rock or practicing some serious digital detox, you’ve probably heard something about them. I mean, they’re kind of a big deal in the watch world now. The brand has grown so fast, and everyone is talking about their U1, U2, and U3 models.
So, yeah, that’s my Unimatic story so far. It started with a simple search and turned into a full-blown obsession. Now, I’m just waiting for my watch to arrive. Once it does, you know I’ll be back with an update. Stay tuned, folks!
