Alright, let’s gab about them suits with shorts, you know, the kind them city folks wear. I saw a picture once, looked kinda funny, like someone forgot their pants! But hey, they say it’s fashion, so who am I to judge, right?
What are these suit-short things anyway? Well, near as I can tell, it’s like a regular suit jacket, you know, the kind the preacher wears on Sundays, but ‘stead of long pants, they got these short pants, like what little Timmy wears to school in the summer. Only, these shorts are probably made of fancier stuff, not that rough and tumble denim Timmy’s always tearin’ up.
Now, I reckon there’s different kinds of these suit-short outfits. Some are all matchy-matchy, same color and material top and bottom. That’s what I’d call a proper suit, even if it’s got them short pants. Then there’s the ones where the jacket and shorts are different, maybe a blue jacket and some tan shorts. That’s more like… mixin’ and matchin’, I guess. City folks are always doin’ that.
- Fancy Matchy-Matchy Suits: These are the ones that look like a real suit, just with the legs chopped off. They’re probably for when you gotta look nice, but it’s too darn hot for long pants.
- Mix-it-Up Outfits: This is where they get creative, I guess. A jacket from here, shorts from there, who knows? As long as it looks good on ‘em, I s’pose.
Where do folks wear these things? Well, I ain’t never seen nobody wearin’ ‘em ‘round here, that’s for sure. But from what I hear, they wear ‘em to parties, to fancy dinners outside, maybe even to work if they’re in some kinda trendy job. Seems kinda silly to me, but hey, city livin’ is different, ain’t it? I seen on TV city fellas wearin’ them to what they call “red carpet events”, whatever those are, looks like fancy parties to me. They always got cameras flashin’ and people yellin’.
How to wear ‘em without lookin’ a fool? Now, this is where it gets tricky. I ain’t no fashion expert, but even I can tell you there’s a right way and a wrong way to do things. First off, them shorts can’t be too short, you know? Nobody wants to see all that. And they can’t be too tight neither, unless you’re tryin’ to squeeze into sausage casings. They gotta fit just right, comfortable-like. And the shoes… oh boy, the shoes. You can’t wear just any old shoes with these things. City folks seem to like them loafers, or sometimes them…sneakers, they call ‘em. I still think a good pair of boots is best for everything, but that’s just me.
I also heard tell that socks are important, can you believe that? Socks with shorts! Some folks wear those no-show socks, so it looks like they ain’t wearin’ any at all. Others wear fancy socks, with patterns and colors. It’s all a bit much if you ask me.
And don’t forget the top! You gotta wear a nice shirt under that jacket. A button-down shirt, usually, tucked in all neat and tidy. Sometimes, I see them city fellas wearin’ a plain t-shirt, but that seems a little too casual for a suit, even if it’s got them short pants.
Accessories and things? Well, some fellas like to wear a tie, makes it look even more like a real suit. Others wear a pocket square, that little piece of cloth tucked into the jacket pocket. And then there’s belts, watches, all sorts of fancy stuff. Me? I just carry my good luck charm, this here lucky penny my grandpappy give me. Does the job just fine.
So, there you have it. That’s about all I know about these suits with shorts. Seems like a lot of fuss for somethin’ that don’t even cover your whole legs, but hey, what do I know? I’m just an old woman who prefers a good pair of overalls and a sturdy pair of boots any day of the week. But if them city folks wanna wear short suits, more power to ‘em. Just as long as they don’t expect me to start wearin’ ‘em!
