Hey there, y’all! Let’s gab a bit about this Ipsy and BoxyCharm thing, ya know, the makeup boxes all them young’uns are crazy about. I heard tell they done went and joined up together. Like, one big ol’ happy family now, or somethin’ like that.

So, what’s the deal with Ipsy? Well, from what I gather, it’s this here beauty box thing where they send you makeup and stuff. They got this quiz, they say, like a test, but for your face! And they use some kinda fancy computer magic to pick out what they think you’ll like. Sounds kinda highfalutin’ to me, but I guess it works for them city folk.
Then there’s this BoxyCharm. They also do the makeup box thing, but they’re more about pickin’ out the good stuff from big-name brands, ya know, the fancy kinds you see in them magazines at the grocery store. And they give you more, like a whole bunch of full-size things. Not them little sample sizes that ain’t good for nothin’.
- Ipsy: They got that quiz thing and send you stuff they think you’ll like. They got different boxes, like the Glam Bag.
- BoxyCharm: They give you a bunch of full-size makeup from fancy brands. You even get to pick some of it yourself, which is nice.
Now, what happened is, Ipsy went and bought BoxyCharm. Yep, paid a whole heap of money, like 500 million dollars! That’s more money than I ever seen in my whole life! They say it’s a “merger,” but that just sounds like fancy talk for “we bought you out.” Anyway, now they’re all under one roof, so to speak. They call it the “ultimate beauty membership.” Sounds mighty important, don’t it?
So, what does this mean for all you makeup lovers? Well, they say they’re gonna take the best parts of both Ipsy and BoxyCharm and put ’em together. Like, you’ll get the fancy brands and full-size stuff from BoxyCharm, but you’ll also get the personal touch from Ipsy’s quiz thing. And they’re gonna have fewer boxes to choose from, which might make things easier, or maybe not. Time will tell, I reckon.
I heard tell this whole thing started way back in 2011 with some lady named Michelle Phan, she was one of them YouTube stars, always putting on makeup and such. And then some other folks joined up with her, and they started this Ipsy thing. BoxyCharm came along later, and they were like rivals, you know, always tryin’ to be better than the other. But now they’re all together, so I guess they worked things out.

This Glam Bag X thing, I heard about that too. It’s like a super fancy box, costs a bit more, but they say it’s worth a whole lot more. Like, you pay 55 dollars, but you get stuff worth 500 dollars! That’s a pretty good deal, if you ask me, but then again, I ain’t no makeup expert. I just use a bit of rouge and some lipstick on Sundays.
They say this Addison Rae, some young gal, she’s got her own makeup line and they put her stuff in that fancy Glam Bag X. I ain’t got no clue who she is, but the young’uns seem to like her. It’s all just too much for me, to be honest. Back in my day, we just used beet juice for rouge and that was that.
So, there you have it. Ipsy and BoxyCharm are now one big happy family, or at least that’s what they’re tellin’ us. They’re gonna try to give you the best of both worlds, whatever that means. If you’re into makeup, I guess it’s good news. Me? I’ll stick to my beet juice and lipstick. It’s cheaper and it gets the job done. But hey, to each their own, I always say.
