OK, I’m going to tell you how I cleaned my watch. I’ve had this watch for a few years, and it was starting to look pretty grimy. I wear it almost every day, so it gets a lot of exposure to sweat, dirt, and everyday stuff. I finally decided it was time to give it a good cleaning.
First, I gathered all the things I needed. I grabbed:
- A bowl
- Some warm water
- Gentle hand soap
- A soft toothbrush (an old one I don’t use anymore)
I filled the bowl with warm water and added a little bit of the hand soap. I swirled it around to make some suds. Since my watch is water-resistant, I felt OK getting it a bit wet.
Cleaning the Watch Face
I dipped the toothbrush into the soapy water and very gently started to scrub the watch face. I made sure to get into all the little nooks and crannies where dirt likes to hide. I rinsed the brush a few times and kept scrubbing until I was happy with how it looked.
Cleaning the Watch Band
My watch has a metal band, so I took the band off the watch face (it’s pretty easy to do, just a little latch). Then I let it soak in the soapy water for a few minutes. After that, I used the toothbrush to scrub the band, making sure to get in between all the links. This part took a little longer because there are so many small spaces.
Once I finished scrubbing, I rinsed the watch face and band under some clean, warm water. I gently shook off any excess water. Then I used a soft, dry cloth to pat everything dry. I laid it out on a towel to air dry completely. This is important because you don’t want any moisture left that could cause rust or damage.
After a few hours, it was completely dry. I put the band back on the watch face, and it looked almost brand new! I was pretty amazed at the difference a little soap and water could make. It’s definitely something I’ll be doing more regularly now that I know how easy it is.
This is just how I clean my own watch. If you have a different type of watch, especially one with a leather band or one that’s not water-resistant, you might need to use a different method. Always better to be safe than sorry!
