Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about these here… uh… “Hermes” thingamajigs. Folks call ’em purses, I think. Fancy ones, mind you. Cost a pretty penny, from what I hear. More than my old mule, Bess, that’s for sure!
The Big Shot Bag: The Birkin
Now, they say the biggest, fanciest one is called a “Birkin.” Been around since, what, the 80s? Heck, I was milkin’ cows back then! Don’t know why anyone’d pay so much for a bag, but folks do it. Guess it’s got some kinda special somethin’. Must be made of gold thread or somethin’, the way they talk about it. But me? I just use my good ol’ feed sack. Holds everything I need.
Fancy Pants Leather… or Not?
Some folks like them shiny, lizard-lookin’ ones, what do they call ’em… “exotics”? Not for me, thank ya kindly. Too delicate-lookin’. I need somethin’ that can handle a bit of dirt and grime. You know, somethin’ that can survive a chicken coop cleanin’ or a trip to the feed store. These fancy bags… I’d be scared to even breathe on ’em!

And wouldn’t ya know it, there’s folks makin’ fake ones! Can you believe that? Tryin’ to trick good people outta their hard-earned cash. You gotta be careful, I tell ya. They got whole groups talkin’ about how to tell the real ones from the fakes. Talkin’ ’bout scarves and such too. Seems complicated. I just sew my own dresses from old curtains, good enough for me.
Luxury? Maybe Not So Much…
Some city folk, they go to these fancy stores and expect to be treated like royalty, I guess. But some say even these “Hermes” places ain’t all that special. They say other stores are better, treat ya nicer. Well, I say the best service is from my neighbor, Martha, who brings me fresh eggs every Sunday. Can’t beat that!
Hermes Shoes? And Jewelry? Oh My!
And it ain’t just bags, no sirree. They got shoes too! High heels and flats and such. Folks say they fit good, true to size. But I’ll stick to my work boots, thank ya very much. Keeps my feet on the ground, where they belong. And the jewelry? Shiny things, diamonds and whatnot. “Blingy” they call it. I prefer my grandma’s old silver locket. Got more sentimental value, ya know?
The “PurseForum” Folks… They Sure Do Talk!
And there’s this place online, a “PurseForum” they call it. Folks gather ’round and talk about these bags all day long. Showin’ off their new purchases, askin’ questions. It’s like a hen house, but with fancy bags instead of eggs. They talk about what they bought in December, in September, in May… Land sakes! Don’t they have chores to do?
My Two Cents…
So, that’s the lowdown on these “Hermes” things, as best as I can tell ya. Fancy, expensive, and a whole lot of fuss, if you ask me. But hey, to each their own. Me? I’ll stick to my feed sack and my sturdy boots. They’ve never let me down.
Seems like folks got too much time on their hands, worryin’ about such things. But I guess that’s the world these days. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens.
