Okay, so, I saw this picture of Greta Gerwig in this amazing jumpsuit, and I just knew I had to try and make one for myself. I’m not exactly a sewing expert, but I figured, how hard could it be, right?

Finding the Right Pattern
First things first, I needed a pattern. I spent hours browsing online, checking out different patterns. Eventually, I found one that looked pretty close to what Greta was wearing. It wasn’t exactly the same, but it had the same general vibe – wide legs, fitted top, you know the deal.
Choosing the Fabric
Next up, fabric shopping! This was the fun part. I went to my local fabric store and wandered around for what felt like forever, touching all the different fabrics. I wanted something with a little bit of weight to it, but also something that would drape nicely. I ended up choosing a beautiful, dark green, medium-weight linen. It felt amazing, and I thought the color would be perfect.
Cutting and Sewing
Now for the tricky part – actually making the jumpsuit. I carefully laid out the pattern pieces on the fabric, pinned them down, and cut everything out. Then came the sewing. I dusted off my old sewing machine and got to work. Let me tell you, there were a few moments where I thought I was in over my head. Some of the seams were a bit wonky, and I definitely had to use the seam ripper more than a few times. It wasn’t a simple task at all, really.
- Sewed the bodice pieces together. This involved some darts, which I’m not gonna lie, were a little intimidating.
- Attached the bodice to the pants. This was probably the hardest part, making sure everything lined up correctly.
- Added a zipper to the back. I’ve done zippers before, but it’s always a bit nerve-wracking.
- Hemmed the pants. This was actually pretty easy compared to the rest.
The Final Result
After many hours of work, and a few minor meltdowns, I finally finished the jumpsuit! It wasn’t perfect, of course. There were a few imperfections here and there, but overall, I was pretty darn proud of myself. I tried it on, and it fit! It actually looked really good! It was comfortable, stylish, and it definitely gave me those Greta Gerwig vibes. Success!
So, there you have it. My adventure in recreating Greta Gerwig’s jumpsuit. It was a challenge, but it was also a lot of fun. And now I have a unique, handmade piece in my wardrobe that I absolutely love. Would I do it again? Maybe. But next time, I might just buy the jumpsuit.
