Oh, honey, lemme tell ya, this whole QVC thing, it’s a real heartbreaker. I heard on the news, some of them pretty ladies who sell stuff on TV, they ain’t with us no more. Makes ya think, don’t it?

One of ’em, Kathleen Kirkwood, they called her the “shoulder pad diva.” Shoulder pads! Can you believe it? Back in my day, we just stuffed our dresses with cotton, but hey, that’s fancy city folk for ya. Poor thing, only 62, gone just like that in New York City. They didn’t say what got her, just that she up and died. Makes me think of my old Bessie, the cow, one day she was milkin’ fine, the next, well, she was gone. Life’s like that sometimes, I guess. Quick and unforgiving.
Then there’s this other gal, Tova Borgnine. A real beauty, she was. Sold all them fancy creams and makeup. Eighty years old, lived a good long life, but still, it’s sad. She passed right there at her home, peaceful like, in Chester County. Heard she even wrote a book about bein’ married happy. Guess that’s somethin’. But still, 80 ain’t that old these days, my Aunt Millie made it to 95 and she smoked like a chimney.
It’s a funny thing, this TV business. These ladies, they seemed so happy, always smilin’, sellin’ ya this and that. You kinda feel like you know ‘em, even though you ain’t never met ‘em. Then, poof, they’re gone. Just like that.
Makes ya wonder, don’t it? All that stuff they sell, all them fancy clothes and makeup, what does it all mean in the end? You can’t take none of it with ya. Just like my old man used to say, “You come into this world with nothin’, and you leave with nothin’”. He was a smart fella, my old man.
- They say Kathleen was big on recycling. Good for her, I say. We always reused everything back home. Nothin’ went to waste.
- And Tova, she was married to some actor fella. Ernest Borgnine, his name was. Never saw any of his movies, but he musta been somethin’ if she married him. City folk and their fancy ways.
It’s a shame, really. These women, they worked hard, made somethin’ of themselves. And now, they’re just gone. Leaves you thinkin’ about your own life, don’t it? Makes you wanna hug your grandkids a little tighter, call your sister you ain’t talked to in years. Life’s too short, that’s for sure.

I tell ya, these QVC folks, they always seem so full of life. Always talkin’ fast, sellin’ hard. It’s like they’re tryin’ to squeeze every last drop outta the day. Maybe that’s the right way to do it, who knows. I always figured slow and steady wins the race, but maybe these city gals knew somethin’ I didn’t.
It’s sad to hear about them passin’, but I guess that’s just the way of things. Nobody lives forever, not even them fancy TV stars. Makes you appreciate the simple things, you know? A warm cup of coffee, a good chat with a friend, watchin’ the sun go down. That’s what really matters in the end.
I reckon those ladies, Kathleen and Tova, they left their mark on the world. They made people happy, helped them feel pretty. And that’s somethin’ to be proud of, I guess. Even if they were just sellin’ stuff on TV.
So, here’s to them. May they rest in peace, them QVC angels. And may we all remember to live our lives to the fullest, just like they seemed to do. ‘Cause you never know when your time’s gonna come, honey. You just never know.
And that’s all I gotta say about that. It’s sad, sure, but life goes on. Just like the river keeps flowin’, no matter what.
