Alright, let’s talk about my little hair adventure. I’ve always been pretty plain with my hair, so I thought, “Why not spice things up a bit?” I decided to go for a 2-tone hair color. I was a bit nervous, but also super excited!
First, I gathered all my supplies. I got some bleach, developer, two different hair dyes, gloves, a mixing bowl, and a brush. It felt like I was preparing for a science experiment, haha! I also made sure to wear an old t-shirt that I didn’t mind staining.

Next, I started by sectioning my hair. I wanted one color on the top and another on the bottom, so I split my hair in half horizontally. I clipped the top section out of the way. Then came the scary part – bleaching! I mixed the bleach and developer according to the instructions and applied it to the bottom section of my hair. I made sure to really saturate the strands, especially the ends.
I waited for about 30 minutes, checking every 10 minutes to see how the color was lifting. It was a bit nerve-wracking, not gonna lie. Once it was light enough, I rinsed out the bleach and dried my hair.
Now for the fun part – the color! I applied the first dye to the top section of my hair. I chose a dark, rich brown. Then, I applied the second dye, a vibrant blue, to the bleached bottom section. I left the dyes on for about 45 minutes. During this time, I just chilled and watched some videos, trying not to think about how it might turn out.
Finally, I rinsed out the dye and conditioned my hair. The moment of truth! I dried my hair and… I loved it! The contrast between the dark brown and the bright blue was so cool. It was exactly the change I was looking for. It didn’t all go to plan and the blue did bleed a bit into the brown at the start, but hey it wasn’t the end of the world!
Honestly, it was a bit of a process, but I’m so glad I did it. It felt good to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. Plus, doing it myself was way cheaper than going to a salon. If you’re thinking about trying 2-tone hair, I say go for it! Just be prepared for a bit of a messy adventure. And who knows, you might end up loving it as much as I do!
