Well, let me tell you, that Grace Kelly, she was somethin’ else. Fashion Grace Kelly, they call it. She was a movie star, you know, and then she went off and married a real prince! Can you believe it? Became a princess, just like that. She always looked so nice, all dressed up fancy.
She wore them pretty dresses, all them Grace Kelly style dresses, long ones, short ones. Always looked like she just stepped outta one of them picture shows. And her hair, always perfect. Not a strand outta place. Like them rich folks, always lookin’ so put together. She grew up with a silver spoon, gold medal and all that. Her daddy, he was some big shot, won one of them Olympic things. So she was always around fancy folks and fancy clothes.
I seen her in them movies, Grace Kelly 1950s fashion, they call it now. Always looked so nice, even when she wasn’t playin’ a princess. She wore them button-up shirts, all tucked in nice and neat, and them skirts that poof out, you know the ones? A-line midi skirt, that’s what the young folks call ’em. She’d wear them with them little white gloves, all proper like. You don’t see that no more, do ya?
And the coats! Oh, them coats. Big and fancy, with them big buttons. And them Grace Kelly style outfits, she could wear anythin’ and make it look good. Even when it was cold, she looked like a queen. I seen a picture of her once, all bundled up, but still lookin’ like a million bucks. They say she was takin’ a break from one of them movie picture things, The Country Girl, I think it was called. Even when she was just restin’, she looked like she was goin’ to a ball.
- She wore them pearls, you know, them white beads.
- Always wore them ’round her neck, like she was born with ’em on.
- And them ladylike coats, all buttoned up tight.
- And dresses, oh, them dresses!
She had that one bag, a big one. They even named it after her, I hear. Fancy, huh? She carried it everywhere. You could tell it was expensive, just lookin’ at it. Probably cost more than my whole house! But she made it look so easy, like she was just carryin’ groceries or somethin’.
If you wanna dress like her, they say you gotta wear them classic silhouettes. Whatever that means. I reckon it just means wearin’ clothes that look good on ya, not them crazy things the young folks wear these days. Clothes that never go outta style. Like a good pair of shoes, or a nice dress that fits just right. She knew how to dress, that Grace Kelly. They say that Hitchcock fella, the movie picture man, he liked her style too. Called her his… what was it? His muse. Fancy word for someone who gives you ideas, I guess. Well, she sure gave him some good ones. She was always dressed to the nines in them movies.
They got all sorts of things now about her style, Grace Kelly style they call it. I seen this page on the computer, all about her clothes. Pictures of her in all them fancy outfits. Wish I had clothes like that when I was young. But we didn’t have much money back then. We made do with what we had. Still, it’s nice to look at them pictures and dream a little, ain’t it?
She was somethin’ special, that Grace Kelly. A real movie star, and a real princess. And always dressed so nice. Emulate the style, they say. Copy her style. Well, maybe I can’t afford them fancy clothes, but maybe I can try to look a little nicer. Maybe I’ll wear my good dress to church next Sunday. And maybe I’ll even put on some pearls. Might not be real ones, but they’ll do. Just a little somethin’ to make me feel a little more like that Grace Kelly.
Fashion Grace Kelly, yeah, that’s what they call it. She sure had it, whatever “it” is. That style, that grace. She was like a picture, always perfect. Always lookin’ like she was ready for her close-up, as they say in the movies. A real lady, that’s what she was. A real lady.
