Okay, so I saw this SR-71 Blackbird watch, and I thought, “Man, that’s cool!” It’s named after that crazy fast plane that the US Air Force used to fly. You know, the one that could outrun missiles? Anyway, I decided I had to get one.
First, I started looking around, you know, just to see what my options were. Found a bunch of different ones. There’s this Timex one, which is pretty basic but gets the job done. It’s got a stainless steel case and it’s water-resistant up to 100 meters. Not bad, not bad.
Then there’s this other one from Urwerk, a super-duper special edition, the EMC SR-71 10th Anniversary. It’s got a manual winding movement and it’s a bit bigger, 47.55mm. That’s a chunky boy! I don’t have the money to buy it but I did see it.
But the one that really caught my eye was the Luminox one. It’s a digital watch, and it just looks so tough, you know? Like something a pilot would wear. I started digging a little deeper into that one.
- So I’m reading about the SR-71 plane, the Blackbird. Turns out, they designed it to fly super high and super fast so that it could avoid anti-aircraft attacks. Makes sense, right? Pretty wild stuff.

Finally, after a lot of back and forth, I decided to pull the trigger and bought the Luminox SR-71 Blackbird. I was so excited to find one! When it arrived, I ripped open the box like a kid on Christmas morning. I know it may sound a little funny but I wear it every day.
Putting it on my wrist for the first time was awesome. It felt substantial, you know? Like a real piece of equipment. And it looks so cool with its black case and all the little details. I’ve been wearing it every day since, and I gotta say, I love it. It’s like having a little piece of aviation history on my wrist. Plus, it’s a great conversation starter. People always ask me about it, and I get to tell them all about the SR-71 and how cool the watch is. It’s definitely one of the best purchases I’ve made in a while.
