Alright, let’s talk about this here watch, the, uh, SPB143, yeah, that’s the one. Folks keep jabberin’ about it, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, ya know?
First off, this thing, they say it’s a diver’s watch. Means it’s supposed to be tough, I guess. Like, you can go swimmin’ with it, or somethin’. Not that I’d ever do that, mind you. Water’s for washin’ dishes and waterin’ the garden, not for messin’ up a perfectly good watch. But hey, if you’re one of them fancy folks who likes to splash around, this here SPB143 might be your kinda thing.
Now, they tell me it’s got this fancy name, Seiko Prospex. Sounds highfalutin’, doesn’t it? But honestly, all I care about is if it tells the time right. And this one, well, it seems to do the job. Got them numbers and hands, easy to see, even for these old eyes. No need for squintin’ and fussin’, which is a blessin’, let me tell ya.
- Tough watch, they say
- Can go in the water, if you’re into that
- Easy to read, even for old folks like me
Some folks are all gaga about how it looks. Vintage style, they call it. Reminds them of some old watch from way back when. Well, I ain’t no expert on that kinda stuff. To me, it looks like a watch. Round face, black dial… Nothin’ too flashy, which is just fine by me. I ain’t tryin’ to impress nobody. Just want a watch that works.
But this watch, it ain’t just any ol’ watch, they say. It came out in 2020. Folks have been yappin’ about it ever since. Sayin’ it’s a real good one, lasts a long time. Got somethin’ called a 70-hour power reserve. Means it keeps tickin’ even if you don’t wear it for a couple of days, I reckon. Handy, I suppose, if you’re the forgetful type.
They also say it’s made in Japan. Now, I don’t know much about Japan, but I hear they make good stuff over there. Cars and TVs and whatnot. So, maybe that’s why this Seiko SPB143 is supposed to be so good. Makes sense, I guess.
And the price, oh boy, the price! People are comparing this one to other watches, talkin’ about eight hundred dollars and such. That’s a lot of money, let me tell you. Enough to feed a family for a month, back in my day. But I guess some folks got money to burn. If you got it, I suppose it’s your business how you spend it.
Now, I saw this fella, Jacob Strong, he wrote a review about it. Said it’s a good watch, but you gotta have realistic expectations. I get that. It’s a watch, not a miracle worker. It ain’t gonna make you younger, or richer, or prettier. But it might help you get to your appointments on time, which is more than I can say for some folks I know.
Another thing they talk about is how much it looks like some older watch, a 62MAS, they call it. Seems like folks really like that old-timey look. Well, to each their own, I say. If it makes ’em happy, who am I to judge? Me, I just want a watch that keeps tickin’ and tellin’ the time right, and this SPB143 watch seems to do the trick.
And this James Stacey fella, he’s been wearin’ his for a whole year, apparently. Said he even abused it a bit, and it still works fine. That’s a good sign, I reckon. Means it can take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’. Which is what you want in a watch, right? Somethin’ that’ll last.
So, all in all, this here SPB143 seems like a pretty decent watch. Tough, reliable, and easy to read. And if you care about that vintage style stuff, well, then it’s got that too. But is it worth all that money they’re askin’ for it? That’s somethin’ you gotta decide for yourself. Me, I’m happy with my old wind-up watch, but if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ new and fancy, this might be the one for you. But remember what I said, it’s just a watch. Don’t go gettin’ your hopes up too high.
