So, I’ve been totally obsessed with “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” lately, and don’t even get me started on the fashion! Midge’s style is just to die for, right? Those coats and hats, especially – they’re iconic. I decided I had to have a little piece of that Maisel magic in my own life.
First, I spent hours, and I mean hours, scrolling through pictures online. I was looking for that perfect vintage vibe, you know? Something that screams “Mrs. Maisel” but wouldn’t look totally out of place in my everyday life. There’s this one pink coat she wears that’s just gorgeous, but I figured maybe bright pink wasn’t the most practical choice for me.
After that I started looking for clothes that were inspired by menswear. I tried to find something classic, like a blazer or shirt, that still felt feminine, and I think I found some great options.
Then the real hunt began. I hit up all my favorite online stores, trying to find similar styles. Let me tell you, it was tough! Either the coats were way too expensive, or the hats were just… not quite right. I even tried looking at some vintage shops online, but nothing was really jumping out at me.
- I found this one amazing coat, the color was perfect, the cut was perfect, but it was, like, a million dollars. Okay, maybe not a million, but way more than I could spend.
- Then I found a hat that was kind of similar to one Midge wears, but the shape was a little off. It just didn’t have that same… flair, you know?
I almost gave up, honestly. But then, I stumbled upon this little online boutique that had a whole section dedicated to vintage-inspired clothing. And guess what? They had a coat that was pretty darn close to one of Midge’s! It wasn’t pink, but it was this beautiful shade of blue, and it had that same classic, tailored look.
And the hats! They had a bunch of cute hats, but one, in particular, caught my eye. It was a classic style, kind of like a mix between the ones Midge wears on the show. I added both to my cart so fast, I think I sprained my finger.
I was so excited. I was going to try and dress like Mrs. Maisel.
When they finally arrived, I tore open the package like a kid on Christmas morning. And you know what? They were perfect! The quality was great, the fit was great, and I felt like a million bucks. Well, maybe not a million, but you get the idea.
The Result
I’ve been wearing the coat and hat out and about, and I’ve gotten so many compliments! People keep asking me where I got them, and I just smile and say, “Oh, you know, just a little something I found.” I feel like I’ve got a little piece of that Mrs. Maisel confidence now, and honestly, it feels amazing.
It was a bit of a journey, but I’m so glad I decided to go for it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go practice my stand-up routine in front of the mirror.
