Alright, let’s talk about the Seiko SKX013. I’ve been eyeing this watch for a while now. It’s a diver’s watch, but smaller than the usual ones, which is perfect for me because I don’t have the biggest wrists in the world.
So, I started looking around online to see what the deal was with this watch. Apparently, it’s a pretty popular model, and some people call it “iconic.” I guess it’s been around since the 96s, and it was made to be a good, affordable dive watch for everyone.
The first thing I did was check out the prices. Man, these things are all over the place! I saw some going for around 300 bucks, and others up to 500. It really depended on the condition, and whether it came with all the original stuff, you know, the box and papers. I also stumbled upon a price chart and tried to understand the price trend.
Trying to get a good deal
I finally found one that looked pretty good—a used one, but the seller said it was in “like new” condition. It had a stainless steel case, 38mm across, which seemed like a good size. And the seller was asking for 400 bucks.
I thought about it for a bit and decided to try and negotiate. I mean, who pays the asking price, right? There was a button on the website that said “Suggest a price,” so I clicked on it. I entered a lower offer, 350, and put in my shipping address so the seller could figure out the shipping cost.
Waiting for the seller’s response
Then came the waiting game. It felt like forever, but the seller finally got back to me. He countered with 380. We went back and forth a couple more times, and we finally settled on 360. Not bad, I thought!
Getting the watch
A few days later, the watch arrived. It looked even better in person than it did in the pictures. It is really well-built, and it felt solid on my wrist. The band was a little stiff at first, but it broke in after a few days and got the perfect fit.
One thing I noticed is that the glow-in-the-dark stuff on the bezel isn’t that bright. And the watch doesn’t “hack,” which means the second hand doesn’t stop when you pull out the crown. But honestly, those are minor things. Overall, I’m really happy with this watch. I wear it almost every day, and it’s been great. I think I got a really good deal, and I think it is really a good value for the money. It’s not perfect, but it’s a solid, good-looking watch that I think I’ll be wearing for a long time.
