So, I’ve been obsessed with this whole Ralph Lauren vibe lately, you know, that classic, refined style? It got me thinking about how cool it would be to bring some of that into my own place. And then I stumbled upon something about his home in Bedford, New York. I heard it used to be called “Oatlands” or something like that. That’s where the journey started.
I started digging around, trying to find out more about this place. I saw that it was featured in some magazine, I think it was AD’s September issue. And there was this other thing about it being inspired by English estates. Man, I was hooked! I needed to know everything about this Bedford estate.
I watched this video, it was called “A Closer Look: Bedford Estate • Ralph Lauren A Way of Living Cultured Elegance.” It gave me a peek into the whole aesthetic. It was all about those graceful traditions of English estates, the elegance, the timelessness of it all. I was totally captivated by the whole thing, taking notes of everything that could inspire me.
Then I got to work. I started thinking about how I could incorporate some of those elements into my own home. I mean, I’m not living in a huge mansion or anything, but I figured I could still capture some of that spirit, right?
- First, I focused on the colors. Lots of rich, warm tones, like deep greens, browns, and creams. I repainted a few accent walls and swapped out some of my throw pillows and blankets to match.
- Then, I started looking for some vintage pieces. I hit up some local antique shops and flea markets, searching for anything that had that classic, worn-in feel. I managed to find a really cool old wooden chest that I now use as a coffee table.
- I also added some equestrian touches. I know it sounds a bit cliché, but it really does tie into that whole Ralph Lauren vibe. I found some old prints of horses and framed them, and I even picked up a couple of vintage riding boots that I now use as decoration.
It wasn’t a complete overhaul or anything, but I made a lot of small changes that really transformed the feel of my place. I wanted to live in the Ralph Lauren’s Bedford style.
The Result
And you know what? It actually worked! My place feels so much more cozy and inviting now, and it definitely has that touch of classic elegance that I was going for. It’s not exactly like Ralph Lauren’s Bedford estate, of course, but it’s my own little version of it. I love it!
It just goes to show that you don’t need a huge budget or a massive mansion to create a space that you love. Sometimes, all it takes is a little inspiration and some creativity. And maybe a trip to the antique store. I had so much fun during the process, and I am so glad that I took this journey!
