Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Rodan and Fields thing. Heard folks talkin’, so I figured I’d poke around a bit. Seems like it’s one of them multi-level marketing deals. You know, the kind where you gotta sell stuff and get other folks to sell stuff too.
They got all sorts of fancy creams and lotions, stuff for your face and skin. Cleansers, toners, moisturizers… sounds like a whole lotta work to me. But some folks swear by it, say it makes ’em look younger and all that. Me? I just wash my face with water, seems to do the trick just fine.
Now, these Rodan and Fields folks, they ain’t got no stores like the Wal-Mart down the road. They sell their stuff through people, you know, regular folks like your neighbor or that lady from church. They call it network marketing or somethin’. Sounds fancy, but it just means you gotta hustle to sell their stuff and get other folks to join up under ya.
Heard tell some folks call it a pyramid scheme. Don’t rightly know what that means, but it don’t sound good. Seems like the folks at the top make all the money, and the rest gotta scramble for scraps. Makes ya think, don’t it?
- They got all kinds of products, like face washes, stuff to make your skin soft and sunscreen.
- They’re based out of some big city, San Francisco, California I think they said.
- Heard they got in trouble with the government, somethin’ about how they do their business. The Federal Trade Commission, they called it. Sent ’em a letter or somethin’. Guess they weren’t playin’ by the rules.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s all bad. Some folks probably make a decent livin’ sellin’ this stuff. But it ain’t for me. I ain’t got time to be chasin’ after folks tryin’ to sell ’em face cream. I got chickens to feed and a garden to tend. That’s honest work, that is. Don’t need no fancy schemes or tricks.
This direct selling thing, it just seems like a lot of trouble. You gotta buy all this product, then you gotta find people to buy it from you. And then you gotta convince them to join up and sell it too. Sounds like a whole lotta work for not much payoff, if you ask me.
They call these people “consultants” or somethin’. High performance consultants, they say. But it seems to me like they’re just regular folks trying to make a buck. Nothin’ wrong with that, I guess, but don’t go tryin’ to make it sound fancier than it is.
And now I hear they’re changin’ things up. Shakin’ up their business model, they say. Gonna reach new customers, whatever that means. Sounds like they’re havin’ some troubles. Heard they even let go of a bunch of folks, lost their jobs. See? That’s what happens when you get caught up in these fancy schemes. Never ends well.
So, that’s the long and short of it. Rodan and Fields, it’s a company that sells skin stuff through regular folks. Some folks like it, some folks don’t. Me? I’ll stick to my soap and water. Seems to work just fine, and I don’t gotta go botherin’ my neighbors tryin’ to sell ’em somethin’ they don’t need.
Multi-level marketing, direct selling, whatever you wanna call it, it ain’t my cup of tea. Seems too complicated and risky. I’d rather stick to what I know, somethin’ solid and dependable. That’s just plain common sense, if you ask me.
