Alright, so you wanna know about them Jordan Space Jam shoes, huh? Let me tell ya, those shoes, they somethin’ else. Folks went crazy for ‘em, still do, I reckon.
First time I saw somethin’ like ‘em was… well, I can’t rightly remember when, but it was a long time ago. They had this movie, see? “Space Jam” it was called. That fella, Michael Jordan, the basketball player, he was in it. And he wore these shoes, all shiny black and white. Folks called ‘em Air Jordan 11 “Concord” first, but then they started callin’ ‘em “Space Jam” shoes ‘cause of the movie.
Now, them shoes, they weren’t just any ol’ shoes. They were fancy, real fancy. Shiny black leather, some kinda mesh stuff, and white on the bottom. Folks said they was iconic, whatever that means. Just looked like good shoes to me, somethin’ you’d wear to church if you wanted to show off a bit.
They came out in 1995, right after that movie. People lined up, I heard, just to get a pair. Spent a whole lotta money, too. More money than I’d spend on a good cow, that’s for sure. And they sold out quick, like hotcakes at a church breakfast. Collectors, they call ‘em, wanted ‘em somethin’ fierce. Still do, I bet.
- Shiny Black Leather: That’s what made ‘em stand out, I think. All shiny and new-lookin’.
- White Midsole: The white part on the bottom, made ‘em look clean, I guess.
- Translucent Outsole: That’s the bottom part you walk on. Kinda see-through, if I remember right.
- Purplish-Blue Branding: Had some kinda fancy writin’ on ‘em, that purplish-blue color.
They say Michael Jordan, he wore a special pair in the movie. All black, with just a bit of white and that purplish-blue writin’. Made just for him, they said. Lucky fella, gettin’ shoes made just for him.
I also heard tell he got in trouble for wearin’ ‘em shoes sometimes. Somethin’ about the basketball folks not likin’ the colors. Said it broke some kinda dress code. Can you believe that? Fined him money, too! But that Nike company, they paid the fines for him. Guess they figured it was worth it, what with all them folks buyin’ the shoes.
Folks still talk about them shoes, even now. Most iconic in sports history, they say. That’s a big deal, I reckon. Means lots of people remember ‘em, and they was important somehow. Heard they even sell for big money now, if you can find a pair in good shape.
There’s even talk about other Jordan shoes, from games where he got hurt or somethin’. Folks want them, too. But them Space Jam shoes, they special. They remind folks of that movie, and of Michael Jordan jumpin’ around, playin’ basketball with them cartoon characters. It was a sight, I tell ya.
So, that’s what I know about them Jordan Space Jam shoes. They was fancy, folks loved ‘em, and they still do. More than just shoes, I guess. They somethin’ special, a piece of history, like my grandma’s old quilt, but for basketball fans, I reckon.
