Okay, so I’ve got this watch, right? It was my granddad’s, and I really wanted to start wearing it. Problem was, it was kinda gross. I mean, it had all this gunk built up around the band and the face. I figured, “I gotta clean this thing up.” So I started looking into it.
First, I gathered my supplies. Nothing fancy, just some basic stuff I had around the house:
- Soft-bristled toothbrush (an old one, obviously)
- Mild soap
- Warm water
- Microfiber cloth – a couple of them, actually
- Q-tips
Then, I got to work. I filled a small bowl with some lukewarm water and added a tiny bit of that mild soap. I’m talking like a drop, you know? You don’t want to go crazy with the soap. Next, I took the watch and, making sure it was water-resistant (important!), I dipped the toothbrush into the soapy water.
Cleaning the Band
I gently brushed the watch band, getting into all those little nooks and crannies. There was a lot of buildup there, so I took my time. I used small, circular motions, and I could actually see the dirt coming off. It was pretty satisfying, not gonna lie. When I was done with the toothbrush, I used q-tips with soap water to clean every small place. After I was happy with how the band looked, I rinsed it under a gentle stream of clean water.
Cleaning the Watch Face
Next up, the watch face. Now, I was a bit more careful with this part. I dampened a microfiber cloth with some clean water (no soap this time) and gently wiped the crystal. I made sure not to press too hard, I didn’t want to scratch it or anything. There were a few smudges, but they came off pretty easily.
Finally, I dried the whole watch with another clean microfiber cloth. I made sure it was completely dry, especially around the band, to prevent any water spots.
And that’s it! The watch looked a thousand times better. It was like night and day. I was so happy I took the time to clean it. It felt great to finally wear my granddad’s watch, and to know that I had cleaned it up myself. It wasn’t hard at all, it just took a little bit of time and some elbow grease. Now, I can’t stop looking at my wrist, and I always think of my Grandpa when I do. It’s a good feeling.
