Alright, listen up, y’all. Gonna tell ya how to clean a watch, the easy way, like I do it. No fancy stuff, just good ol’ common sense, ya hear?
First off, get yourself some warm water. Not too hot, not too cold, just right, like for washin’ dishes. Put it in a bowl, not too big, not too small, just big enough to dunk your watch in, if your watch can be dunked, that is. Some watches, they ain’t waterproof, so don’t be dumb and drown it.
Now, grab some soap. I use the dish soap, the kind I use for the pots and pans. Just a little bit, not too much. You don’t wanna make a bubble bath for your watch, just enough to get it clean. Squirt a bit in the water, swish it around a little.
If your watch is one of them fancy ones that can’t get wet, then forget the dunking. Just take a soft cloth, you know, like an old t-shirt or somethin’, and dip it in the soapy water. Then, just wipe the watch down, real gentle-like. Don’t go scrubbin’ it hard, you ain’t tryin’ to take the paint off.
- Get a soft cloth or a soft toothbrush.
- Dip it in the soapy water.
- Gently scrub the watch case and the face.
If your watch can get wet, then go ahead and dunk it. But don’t just leave it there, you gotta scrub it a bit. I use an old toothbrush, the soft kind. Dip it in the soapy water and scrub the watch real good, get all the dirt and grime off. Be careful around the face, though, you don’t want to scratch it. Them fancy watches, they scratch easy, I tell ya.
Pay special attention to the band, that’s where all the gunk builds up, you know, sweat and dirt and all that nasty stuff. Scrub it real good, get in all the little cracks and crevices. If you got one of them metal bands, you can use the toothbrush to get in between the links. If it’s a leather band, well, be careful, you don’t wanna ruin it. Maybe just wipe it down with a damp cloth.
Now, once you’re done scrubbin’, rinse it off. If you dunked it, rinse it under the tap, real quick, not too long. If you just wiped it down, then just wipe it down again with a clean, damp cloth to get rid of the soap.
Then, dry it off. Use a soft cloth, like the one you used before. Wipe it dry, real good. Make sure there ain’t no water left on it, especially if it ain’t waterproof. Water can mess up the insides, ya know.
Some folks say you can use special cleaning solutions for watches, but I ain’t got time for that. Soap and water works just fine, been doin’ it for years. And don’t go usin’ that alcohol stuff, the kind they sell at the drugstore. It’ll rust your watch up, I heard tell.
And another thing, some folks use them fancy machines, the kind that vibrate and clean the watch all automatic-like. But I say, why bother? It takes too long, fifteen minutes they say. Takes me five minutes tops to clean my watch, and it comes out just as clean.
Now, I heard tell that some folks clean their watches to make sure they keep workin’ right, or to make sure the water don’t get in. And that makes sense, I guess. Keepin’ things clean always helps them last longer, that’s just common sense.
So there you have it, that’s how I clean a watch. Nothin’ fancy, just good ol’ soap and water and a little bit of elbow grease. Keeps your watch lookin’ good and workin’ right. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it?
Remember, gentle is the key, and don’t use harsh chemicals. And if you ain’t sure, ask someone who knows, don’t go breakin’ your watch tryin’ to be a hero. That’s all I gotta say. Now go clean your watch!
