Okay, so, a while ago, I got super into this whole watch thing. I kept hearing about this site, Hodinkee, that everyone seemed to love. They sell watches, write about them, the whole nine yards. I figured I’d check it out, right?
Getting Started
First thing I did was just browse around. They have this section with all these new watches, and man, some of them are insane. Like, I saw a Rolesor model, the ref. 124273, that was 36mm. I’m not a huge watch guy, so I don’t know all the lingo, but it looked pretty sweet. I also bumped into a 40mm diver-style tool watch, a cool one.
Diving Deeper
Then I started reading some of their articles. They have this whole thing about how watches set to 10:10 look like a smiling face. I don’t know if I totally buy it, but it was kind of interesting. They talk about all these different brands too, like TAG Heuer. They kept mentioning TAG Heuer this, TAG Heuer that, about how they’re all about racing and stuff.
Thinking About Buying
So, they also sell watches on the site. I was poking around, just seeing what they had. They have this whole spiel about how they make it super easy to protect your watch and how secure it is. I guess that’s a big deal when you’re buying a fancy watch, so I guess that’s good. I mean, the way they say it is, “We’ve minimized the paperwork and maximized protection.” Sounds kind of professional.
Japanese Content
I also found some stuff in Japanese, which I can’t read at all. I think it was about some event in Geneva where they were showing off new watches. There was something about a “casual meet-up” too. And also I learned that “hodinky” means wristwatch in Czech and Slovak, which, you know, cool to know.
Getting Overwhelmed
Honestly, the whole thing was a bit much. There’s just so much information on there. I mean, they have everything you could ever want to know about watches, but it’s almost too much. Like, they say, “We’re giving you everything you need to know about a watch to make a decision.” But I started feeling like I was drowning in information.
Final Thoughts
In the end, I didn’t buy anything. I might go back and look again sometime. I think I just need to take it slow and not try to learn everything at once. It’s definitely a cool site though. It’s just, like they say, “All the character and personality of Hodinkee.” It’s a lot to take in!
- Browsed the Hodinkee website.
- Read articles about watch design and brands.
- Explored the shop section and considered buying a watch.
- Found content in Japanese about watch events.
- Felt overwhelmed by the amount of information.
- Decided not to buy anything at this time.
So that was my Hodinkee adventure. Maybe I’ll become a watch expert someday, but for now, I’m just a guy who looked at some cool watches online.
