So, I’ve been seeing this “Halo Glow” thing all over Instagram and TikTok. Everyone’s going crazy about it, saying it’s a dupe for some fancy Charlotte Tilbury product. And you know me, I’m always down to try something new, especially when it comes to makeup. So, I decided to give it a shot and see what the hype is all about.
First, I went to the store and picked up the e.l.f. Cosmetics Halo Glow Liquid Filter. The packaging looked pretty similar to the Charlotte Tilbury one, so I was already getting excited. I mean, if it looks the same, it must be similar, right?
Now, the tricky part was figuring out the right shade. I watched a bunch of videos online, and some people said to use a dry sponge for blending. There were two shades that caught my eye: No. 1 and No. 2. I heard that No. 1 looks more natural, kinda like your own skin but better, and No. 2 gives you this warm, yellow-gold look. After much contemplation, I ended up getting both ’cause, why not?
When I got home, I was so eager to try them out. I started with Shade No. 1. I put a little bit on the back of my hand and used a dry sponge to apply it to my face. It blended really easily, and I was surprised at how much it looked like my own skin, just more even and glowy. It wasn’t heavy or cakey at all. I was impressed!
Next, I tried Shade No. 2. This one was definitely more noticeable. It gave my skin a warm, golden glow, like I had just spent a day at the beach. I liked it, but I felt like it was more of a “going out” look rather than an everyday thing.
The thing I really liked about this Halo Glow stuff is that it’s not like a foundation, but it’s not just a highlighter either. It’s somewhere in between. You can wear it alone, under your makeup, or even mix it with your foundation. I tried mixing a little bit of Shade No. 1 with my foundation, and it gave my skin this beautiful, subtle glow. It made my foundation look less flat, which I loved.
I’ve been playing around with it for a few days now, and here’s what I’ve figured out:
