Okay, so, I’ve always had this jet-black hair, right? And don’t get me wrong, I love it, but I was feeling like I needed a little something extra, a bit of a change. So, I started thinking about highlights. I browsed some pictures online, you know, just to get some ideas of what I could do.
At first, I was really into the idea of something bold. I saw some pictures of these really cool, chunky blonde highlights, and I thought, “Yeah, that’s it!” But then I started to second-guess myself. I was worried it might be too much, too drastic of a change. I mean black is my nature color so I don’t want to change it too much. I still wanted it to look somewhat natural, you know?
After hemming and hawing for a while, I decided to go with something a bit more subtle. I opted for these caramel-colored highlights. I figured they’d add some warmth and dimension to my hair without being too over-the-top. I still remember that day when I sit on the chair in the salon, I was so nervous but also really excited about how they would turn out.
The stylist suggested doing a balayage, which I’d never even heard of before, but it sounded cool. Basically, he painted the highlights onto my hair in a way that looked really natural, like the sun had just kissed it or something. I agreed with him. And let me tell you, it was a process! I sat in that chair for hours, waiting for the color to develop. My butt was getting numb, and I was getting a bit bored by some chit chat and small talks.
But finally, it was done! I remember that feeling when I first looked in the mirror and saw the finished product. I was over the moon! The caramel highlights looked so good against my black hair. They added just the right amount of depth and dimension, and they looked so natural, just like I wanted. My hair looked so much brighter and more full of life!
- When my hair started to grow out, I thought about adding some lowlights to break up the color a bit. But you know what? I ended up just letting it grow out naturally, and it actually looked pretty cool. The contrast between my natural black roots and the caramel highlights was kind of edgy and unique.
So yeah, that’s the story of my hair highlight adventure. It was a bit of a rollercoaster, but I’m so glad I did it. I love how my hair looks now, and I get compliments on it all the time. If you’re thinking about getting highlights on your black hair, I say go for it! Just make sure you think about what you really want and find a stylist who knows what they’re doing. And be prepared to sit in that chair for a while! It’s totally worth it in the end, though.
