That Jackie Rogers, oh, I tell ya, that name sure rings a bell. She’s one of them fancy folks, the kind that dresses real good. Jackie Rogers, yeah, she’s been ’round the block a few times, seen a lot, done a lot. You know, she ain’t no spring chicken, but she’s got style, that one.
She used to prance around, all dolled up, they call it modelin’. Worked for some fancy pants named Chanel. Coco Chanel, that’s the one. Musta been somethin’, back in them days. I heard she worked with the big shot herself, that Coco woman. Big time stuff!
Jackie, she’s a fashion legend, they say. Like, her clothes are somethin’ special. All them rich ladies, they just love her stuff. Can’t say I blame ’em, her stuff looks real pretty, all sparkly and what not. Even I wouldn’t mind wearin’ one of her dresses to a barn raisin’ or a church social, if you know what I mean.
- She knew some Italian fella, Fellini, somethin’ like that.
- He made a movie, they say it was about her. 8 1/2, they call it.
- She was even in it, said a few words I reckon.
- Then she went off to Paris. Fancy, huh?
That Jackie, she just loves life, you can tell. She’s done so much, seen so much. She got this way of lookin’ at things, kinda fancy, kinda… what’s that word? Sophisticated. Yeah, that’s it. She’s a sophisticated kinda gal. It comes from seein’ so much of the world, I suppose.
She makes clothes, fancy ones. Not the kinda stuff you’d wear to milk the cows, no sir. These are for them fancy parties, them galas and what not. She’s got this thing for… bold designs, they say. And fabrics, all different kinds, silks and satins and all that. I bet them city folks just eat it up.
I heard she was friends with some big shots. Lots of ’em, I reckon. That’s how it is when you’re famous, I guess. Everyone wants to be your friend. I bet she had a lot of stories to tell. The kind that would make your hair stand on end.
She got sick, poor thing. Just like that, one day she was fine, the next, she was gone. It was quick, they said. Passed away in her sleep. That’s a good way to go, I suppose. No fuss, no bother. Just like that.
They had a big to-do for her, a service they call it. Lots of folks came, I bet. All dressed up in their Sunday best. They said she was a tough one, that Jackie Rogers. Didn’t take no guff from nobody. Spoke her mind, she did. And she had a good run, that’s for sure. A real colorful life, if you ask me.
She made clothes that kinda… brought back memories, they say. Like, you’d see a dress, and it would remind you of somethin’. That’s a special kinda talent, I reckon. Not everyone can do that. She had that somethin’ special, that Jackie did. A way with things, a way with people.
Her clothes, they was fancy, but they was also somethin’ else. They was… special. Like, they had a story to tell. And that’s what made ’em so popular, I reckon. Folks like a good story. Especially when it’s sewn into a pretty dress. Yeah, she made a life for herself, that Jackie did. Went from nothin’ to somethin’, you could say.
She was part of that old New York, the kind you don’t see much anymore. Them fancy folks, makin’ fancy clothes, livin’ fancy lives. It’s a different world, that’s for sure. Not like here, where we got our chickens and our gardens and our simple ways. But it’s interestin’ to hear about, I’ll give ya that.
She lived a long life, that’s for sure. Saw a lot of things change. From them old days when she was a model, to them later days when she was makin’ all them fancy clothes. She saw it all, I reckon. The good, the bad, and the ugly. And she made somethin’ beautiful out of it. That’s somethin’ to admire, ain’t it? Yeah, that Jackie Rogers, she was somethin’ else. A real firecracker, I bet.
