Today, I want to talk about replacing the Ferrari F8. This whole thing started because, well, my neighbor got a new car. Yeah, you heard that right, a brand spanking new Ferrari F8. It’s sleek, it’s red, and it’s loud. And every time I saw it, a little voice in my head went, “I want that.” But, like most people, I don’t have a spare few hundred grand lying around. So, I thought, “Why not try to, you know, simulate the experience?”

My first move was to check out some videos online. I watched a bunch of reviews, some driving footage, and even a few where people were just revving the engine. It sounded glorious, a real beast. But just watching videos wasn’t enough. I wanted to feel it, somehow.
Next, I hit up a local car dealership that had some high-end sports cars. I wasn’t planning on buying anything, just wanted to sit in something that felt similar to the F8. I found a pretty nice Porsche, not quite a Ferrari, but it had that low-slung, sporty feel. I sat in the driver’s seat, gripped the steering wheel, and, I gotta say, it felt pretty good. I even asked the salesman if I could start it up, just to hear the engine. He gave me a weird look, but he let me do it. It wasn’t the F8’s roar, but it was something.
After that, I got a little obsessed. I started looking into racing simulators. There are some crazy setups out there, with full motion platforms and everything. I didn’t go that far, but I did find a decent racing wheel and pedals set for my computer. I downloaded a racing game that had the Ferrari F8, and let me tell you, it was a blast. Okay, it’s not the real thing, but with the force feedback on the wheel and the engine sounds blasting through my speakers, I could almost pretend I was tearing down a track in an F8.
Here’s what I did, step-by-step:
- Watched a ton of Ferrari F8 videos online.
- Visited a car dealership and sat in a similar sports car.
- Bought a racing wheel and pedals.
- Played a racing game with the Ferrari F8.
- Felt awesome.
Of course, it’s not the same as owning a real Ferrari F8. I’m not fooling myself. But it was a fun little project, and it definitely satisfied that itch, at least for a little while. It got me wondering what the next thing should be. I should get myself a project car soon. Maybe I will share the whole process here as well.
