Alright, let’s talk about my little adventure at Seoul Fashion Week. You know, the one for Fall/Winter 2024. I decided to go because, well, why not? Fashion, new trends, and a bit of a scene, sounded like my kind of fun. So, I booked a trip to Seoul, not really knowing what to expect but figured it would be a blast.
First off, getting there was a breeze. Seoul is pretty easy to navigate, and I found my way to the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), where most of the action was happening. That place is wild, by the way, all futuristic and shiny. I heard NewJeans, the K-Pop group, kicked things off, which must have been cool, but I missed that part. No biggie, there was plenty more to see.
Walking into the event, I was immediately hit with the energy of the place. So many people dressed to the nines, cameras flashing, and an overall buzz that’s hard to describe. I started by just wandering around, taking it all in. There were like 21 brands showcasing their stuff, but I mainly stuck to the 15 at DDP. It was a good mix of known designers and some new names I’d never heard of.
- I checked out a few runway shows, and man, some of those outfits were out there. I mean, statement pants and frilly bows? Not sure if I could pull that off, but it was cool to see.
- Bumped into a couple of photographers, Alex Finch and Young Chul Kim, who were snapping away. They seemed to be everywhere, capturing the best looks. I even made sure to get a photo of myself.
- Spent a good chunk of time just people-watching. The street style was maybe even more interesting than the shows. Everyone was so into it, trying to outdo each other with their looks.
Honestly, I didn’t buy anything. I’m not much of a shopper, especially when it comes to high fashion. But I did soak up a lot of inspiration. Seeing all those different styles and how people put things together gave me a few ideas for my own wardrobe. Nothing too crazy, just a few tweaks here and there.
I ended up spending a few days at the event, from September 3rd to 7th. Each day was a bit different, with new shows and new people to see. It was a bit overwhelming at times, but in a good way. Like, there was so much going on that I couldn’t possibly see it all, but I tried my best to make the most of it.
Leaving Seoul, I felt pretty satisfied with the whole experience. It was a nice little escape from my usual routine, and I got to see a side of the fashion world that I don’t normally encounter. Would I go again? Yeah, probably. It’s a fun scene, and Seoul is a great city to visit. Plus, who knows what next year’s trends will be? I might need to be there to find out.
