Okay, so, I tried to do my own “fll nails” at home the other day. I thought, “How hard can it be?” Well, let me tell you, it’s a bit of a journey.

First, I gathered all my stuff. You know, the basics. I got some acrylic powder, that liquid stuff (monomer, I think it’s called?), some nail tips, a brush, and a nail file. I watched a couple of videos online, and it seemed easy enough.
Getting Started
I started by prepping my nails. I pushed back my cuticles, filed my natural nails a bit to rough them up, and cleaned them with some alcohol. I figured this would help the acrylic stick better.
Then, I glued on the nail tips. This part was kind of tricky. Getting them straight and the right size took some fiddling. One or two might have been a bit crooked, but hey, I’m no pro. After that, I cut and filed the tips to the shape I wanted. It was like being back in art class, kinda.
Mixing and Applying
Next up, the real deal—mixing the acrylic. I dipped my brush into the liquid and then into the powder to form a little ball. This was way harder than it looked in the videos. My first few attempts were either too runny or too dry. It was a mess, honestly. But I kept at it, and eventually, I got a decent bead.
I placed the bead on my nail and started spreading it around. This was like trying to sculpt with Play-Doh, except it dries super fast. I tried to smooth it out and make it even, but it was tough. Some nails ended up thicker than others, and I definitely got some on my skin. Whoops.

Shaping and Finishing
After the acrylic dried, it was time to file and shape. This part was actually kind of satisfying. I filed the nails down, smoothed out the bumps, and shaped them to look more natural. It took a while, but I started to see some progress.
Once I was happy with the shape, I buffed the nails to get rid of any scratches. I’m actually amazed I made it this *, I added a top coat to make them shiny. They didn’t look half bad, to be honest.
The Result
- Not Perfect, But Not Bad: They weren’t perfect, but they were definitely wearable. I learned a lot from this first try.
- Practice Makes Perfect: I’m not giving up. I’ll definitely try this again and see if I can improve.
- Fun Experience: Even though it was challenging, it was also kind of fun. It’s like a little art project for your hands.
So, that’s my fll nails adventure. It was a bit of a rollercoaster, but I’m glad I tried it. If you’re thinking about doing your own acrylic nails, just be prepared for a bit of a learning curve. And maybe have some extra patience on hand!
