Okay, so I saw these Dior beach bags online and thought, “Why not?” I wanted to make one myself. I’m no expert, but I figured I could give it a shot. So, I started by gathering some stuff I had lying around the house. I found some old canvas fabric, leftover from a previous project. I also grabbed some rope from the garage for the handles.
Getting Started
First, I cut the canvas into two large rectangles. These would be the main body of the bag. I’m not the best at cutting straight lines, but it was good enough. Then, I sewed the two pieces together along three sides, leaving the top open. I used my mom’s old sewing machine, which is ancient but still works like a charm. I had to watch a few YouTube videos to remember how to thread it, though.
Making It Stronger
Reinforce the seams – I went over the seams a couple of times to make sure they were strong. I don’t want this bag falling apart at the beach!
Add a lining – I used some colorful cotton fabric for the lining. I cut it to the same size as the canvas pieces and sewed it in. This made the bag look nicer on the inside and added another layer of durability.
Adding the Handles
For the handles, I measured and cut the rope into two equal lengths. I burned the ends with a lighter to prevent them from fraying. Then, I sewed the ends of the ropes to the top corners of the bag, making sure they were securely attached. I used a thick needle and some heavy-duty thread for this. It was a bit tough to push the needle through the rope and canvas, but I managed.
Finishing Touches
I wanted to add a little personal touch, so I stenciled “Dior” on the front with some fabric paint. It wasn’t perfect, but it gave it that designer look I was going for. I also added a small pocket inside for my phone and keys. I just sewed a small square of fabric onto the lining. It’s not fancy, but it’s practical.
The Result
It took me a whole weekend, but I finally finished my DIY Dior beach bag. It’s not exactly like the ones from the Cruise 2025 collection, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s big enough to carry my sunscreen, a beach towel, and some snacks. Plus, I made it myself, which is pretty cool. Next time I go to the beach, I’ll be carrying this bag with pride!
It’s not perfect, of course. The stitching is a bit wonky in places, and the “Dior” logo is a little crooked. But, you know what? It’s mine. I made it. And it’s a pretty darn good beach bag, if I do say so myself.
