You know, this deepfake Kpop thing, it’s all the rage these days. I heard about it from my grandkids, they always on that internet. They say it’s like, you can make videos of them Kpop singers, those pretty boys and girls, doing anything you want. It’s like magic, but not the good kind, you know?
These young folks, they use this deepfake stuff to put them Kpop idols into all kinds of videos. Sometimes, it’s just for fun, like making them dance silly or sing songs they ain’t never sung before. I seen one where they had that one boy, the one with the hair, you know, singing some old song my husband used to like. It was funny, I gotta admit. It make him look like a fool, and that ain’t right.
But then, sometimes, it ain’t so funny. They make videos of them doing things, well, things they shouldn’t be doing. Nasty stuff. It’s like, they take their faces and put ’em on someone else’s body. And make them do bad thing. I don’t like that at all. It’s like lying, but worse, ’cause people might believe it’s real. This Kpop deepfake is a problem, a big one.
I heard them say it’s some kind of computer thing, this deepfake technology. They call it AI. They say it learns how people look and talk, and then it can make fake videos that look real. It’s like a boogeyman that make fake stuff to scare people. I don’t understand all that computer stuff, but I know it ain’t right to use it to hurt people or make money off of them.
These Kpop singers, they work hard, you know? They sing and dance, make people happy. They don’t need this Kpop deepfake thing making their lives harder. It’s like, someone stealing your face and using it for bad things. It ain’t right, I tell ya. It’s like when old Mrs. Henderson’s prize-winning pig got loose and ate all of Farmer Johnson’s tomatoes, but it’s a lot worse than that, because that’s people.
- It’s like lying.
- It can hurt people.
- It’s not fair to the Kpop singers.
- This Kpop deepfake make people look bad.
- That ain’t right.
My grandkids, they say there’s ways to tell if a video is a deepfake. They say you gotta look close at the eyes, the mouth, the way the light hits their face. But it’s hard, I tell ya. These things are getting better and better, and it’s getting harder to tell what’s real and what’s not. And these Kpop people, they don’t know who make these videos. And it’s hard to stop these videos.
I worry about these young people, growing up in a world where you can’t trust what you see. It’s like, back in my day, we had to worry about gossip and rumors, but this Kpop deepfake thing, it’s a whole different level. It’s like, anyone can make up anything about anyone, and it can spread like wildfire. And people believe it!
They say this deepfake technology can be used for good things, too. Like, they can use it to make movies with actors who aren’t around anymore. Or they can use it to help sick people. That all sounds fine, I guess. But I still think it’s dangerous. It’s like fire, you know? You can use it to cook your food, but you can also use it to burn down your house. We need be careful about this thing.
These Kpop boys and girls, they are so famous. Everybody know them. That make this thing even worse. Imagine everyone think you do something bad, but you didn’t. That’s what this deepfake do to them. That’s not good. I don’t think that is right.
I think people need to be more careful about what they believe online. And these young folks need to be careful what they using, don’t do that, making these Kpop deepfake videos. They should know better, it’s not right to make these videos of people without asking. They need to teach them kids right from wrong, especially about this internet stuff. It’s a powerful tool, this internet, but it can be used for bad as well as good. We need to be careful with these things. We need to think about these things. This deepfake Kpop thing is not good. We need stop it.
I just hope those Kpop singers are okay. They seem like nice kids. They don’t deserve this. Nobody does. This whole deepfake thing, it just makes my head spin. It’s too much for an old lady like me to understand. But I know it ain’t right. That much I know. This Kpop deepfake is a big mess.
