This year, I went to that big, fancy Couture Las Vegas 2024. Lord have mercy, my old eyes ain’t seen so many shiny things in all my life! All them rich folks, dressed up like peacocks, walking around. You wouldn’t believe the stuff they had there.
First thing I saw was gold, gold everywhere! Not like the little bit I got on my wedding ring, mind you. This was big, chunky gold. Necklaces thick as my thumb, bracelets you could barely lift. They called it “bold yellow gold.” Well, I reckon it was bold alright! Made my old eyes water just looking at it. Some folks say white gold is coming back, but at this Couture 2024, yellow was king, I tell ya!
And the pearls! Not like the little fake ones Betty down the street wears. These were big, round pearls, all different colors. Some were white, some were pink, some were even black! I heard someone say they were from the ocean. Imagine that, something so pretty coming from a fish’s mouth! I saw a pearl necklace that was so long it could have reached my ankles, all at Couture Las Vegas 2024.

Then there was this blue stone, they called it “lapis.” Looked like the sky on a clear summer day. They had it in rings, in earrings, in everything! I saw one lady, all dressed up in a fancy dress, wearing a lapis necklace that must have cost more than my whole house! I heard it was popular at Couture Las Vegas this year.
They had all sorts of other things, too. Shiny stones that looked like candy. I saw one that was red as a rooster’s comb, and another that was green as the grass in spring. I don’t know what they were called, but they sure were pretty. It was a real sight to see, I’ll tell you that. It was all so fancy, at that Las Vegas Couture thing.
And the people! Oh, the people! All dressed up in their fancy clothes. I saw one lady wearing a dress that looked like it was made of feathers. Another one had a hat so big, it could have shaded my whole garden! They were all talking about “fashion” this and “design” that. I didn’t understand half of what they were saying, but they sure seemed to be having a good time. I think they call it “haute couture,” whatever that means! Some brand called Gucci was there, they said it was started a long time ago, in 1921. Fancy that!
There was food, too. Little tiny sandwiches, no bigger than my thumb. And cakes, all decorated with flowers made of sugar. I tried one, and it was so sweet, it made my teeth hurt! But it was good, I have to admit. Better than my apple pie, even! It was all laid out pretty at Couture 2024, I’ll give them that.

I walked around for hours, just looking at everything. My feet were killing me by the end of it, but it was worth it. I saw things I never even dreamed of. Things so beautiful, they made my heart ache. It’s a whole other world, that Couture Las Vegas 2024. Not like anything I’ve ever seen before.
I don’t know much about that “haute couture” stuff, but I know what’s pretty. And there was a whole lot of pretty at that show. Enough to last me a lifetime. I reckon I’ll be dreaming about those bold gold necklaces and those shiny pearls for years to come. And that blue stone, that “lapis.” I won’t ever forget that. It was a day I’ll never forget, that’s for sure. That Couture thing was something else.
I heard them say it was for important people, you know. Big designers, rich people who buy the jewelry, and writers who tell everyone about it. It’s called a community, a Couture community. All I know is, there was a lot of money there, more than I’ve ever seen at the county fair, that’s for darn sure. It was all so fancy at Couture Las Vegas 2024, just like a fairytale.
