I saw a design for a Chanel star the other day, and I thought, “Hey, I can make that!” So, I decided to give it a try. First, I grabbed some cardboard from an old box – you know, the usual stuff lying around the house. I figured cardboard would be sturdy enough.
I started by sketching out a star shape on the cardboard. It wasn’t perfect, but hey, who needs perfect when you’re having fun, right? Then, I cut it out with a pair of scissors. I had to be a bit careful here to make sure the edges were somewhat neat.
Next, I rummaged through my craft supplies and found some black paint. I painted the whole star black. I gave it two coats, just to make sure the color was nice and solid. Waiting for the paint to dry was probably the hardest part, I’m not the most patient person, you see.
Once the paint was dry, I looked for something to add that Chanel touch. I found an old necklace with a “C” charm. Perfect! I removed the charm and glued it to the center of the star. It wasn’t exactly the Chanel logo, but it was close enough.
Finally, I added some glitter around the edges of the star, because who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle? I just sprinkled it on and hoped for the best. I think it turned out pretty good, it gives it a sort of a nice touch, I guess.
So there you have it, my homemade Chanel-inspired star. It’s not something you’d find in a store, but it was a fun little project.
- Drew a star on cardboard
- Cut out the star
- Painted it black, two coats
- Glued a “C” charm in the center
- Added some glitter for extra flair
It is now hanging on my wall. Every time I see it I think to myself, “Yeah, I made that!” Maybe I’ll try making some other designs soon. It’s all about having a go and enjoying the process, isn’t it?
What I learned
It is not that hard to make something cool with basic materials.
