I’ve always wanted to try making my own perfume. Something unique, you know? Something that really captures the essence of a butterfly garden, all those beautiful flowers and the delicate flutter of wings. So, I finally decided to give it a go.

First, I gathered a bunch of stuff. I got some essential oils, like lavender, rose, and jasmine – all the flowery scents I could think of. Then I grabbed some carrier oil, which I think is just to dilute the strong essential oils, I used jojoba oil because someone said it was good. I also snagged some small glass bottles from an old craft kit, a dropper, and some labels I could write on.
Next, I started mixing. This was the fun part, but also kind of tricky. I added a few drops of this, a few drops of that, trying to find the perfect blend. It was a lot of trial and error. I sniffed each mixture like a crazy person, trying to figure out what was missing or what was too much. I ended up with a bunch of different combinations, some smelling amazing, others, well, not so much.
- Experiment 1: 5 drops Lavender, 3 drops Rose, 2 drops Jasmine. This one was way too floral, almost like potpourri.
- Experiment 2: 2 drops Lavender, 5 drops Rose, 1 drop Jasmine. This was better, but the rose was overpowering.
- Experiment 3: 3 drops Lavender, 3 drops Rose, 3 drops Jasmine. Getting closer! It smelled nice, but not quite “butterfly garden” yet.
I kept messing around, trying different ratios and even added a tiny bit of bergamot oil to one of the mixes for a little citrusy kick. Finally, after what felt like hours, I created something I really liked. It was a balanced mix of lavender, rose, and jasmine, with a hint of that bergamot. It smelled sweet, floral, and a little bit fresh, like a sunny afternoon in a garden full of butterflies.
I carefully poured my winning concoction into one of the small bottles and stuck a label on it. I named it “Butterfly Perfume,” obviously. I’ve been wearing it for a few days now, and I have to say, I’m pretty proud of myself. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and it reminds me of a beautiful butterfly garden every time I smell it.
My Final Recipe (Maybe)
- 3 drops Lavender essential oil
- 3 drops Rose essential oil
- 2 drops Jasmine essential oil
- 1 drop Bergamot essential oil
- Fill the rest with Jojoba carrier oil
I might even try making another batch soon, maybe with some different flower scents. Who knows, maybe I’ll create a whole line of perfumes!
