Okay, so I decided to dive into this whole “Black History Month” thing on Pinterest today. I didn’t really know where to start, honestly, but I figured, why not see what all the fuss is about?

First, I opened up Pinterest on my phone. I typed “Black History Month” into the search bar, just to see what would pop up. Wow! A ton of stuff came up. I mean, there were pins about everything – famous African American figures, historical events, cool art projects, quotes, you name it.
I started scrolling and saving things that caught my eye. I saw a pin about the Civil Rights Movement, which got me thinking about how much I don’t know about that era. I also found some awesome artwork inspired by African American culture, and they were just beautiful. I’m not usually into history, but these were just so stunning and eye-catching.
Then, I started to get into the stories of some of these people. There were pins about scientists, inventors, activists, and artists who I’d never even heard of before. This is all pretty interesting, I thought.
I spent a good chunk of my afternoon going down this rabbit hole. I learned about the contributions of African Americans to things like music, literature, and science. I even found some resources for learning more about specific topics, like the Harlem Renaissance. It also mentioned that the theme for 2025 is “African Americans and Labor”.
Here’s what I realized:

- First, Black history is way more than just what we learn in school. There are so many layers and stories that I had no idea existed.
- Second, Pinterest is a pretty cool place to find information and inspiration about, well, pretty much anything.
- Third, This is going to take some time to unpack, but I will keep learning and exploring this topic.
I am going to keep exploring this stuff. It’s pretty fascinating, and I feel like I’m just scratching the surface here. I’ll keep you all posted on what I find. Maybe I’ll even put together my own board of resources at some point. Who knows!
What I Did Today
So, to sum up, I browsed Pinterest, saved a bunch of pins, read some articles, and started to get a better sense of the richness and depth of Black history. It was a good day of learning, and I’m excited to continue.
