Okay, so, Beyonce’s braids. I really wanted to try this style. You know, the ones she rocks in her music videos and performances? They look so awesome! I figured I’d give it a go myself and see if I could pull it off.

First thing I did was gather all my supplies. I got a bunch of braiding hair, because, let’s be real, my natural hair isn’t nearly long enough or thick enough for that kind of look. I also made sure I had a good comb, some hair clips, rubber bands, and edge control gel. Oh, and a whole lot of patience, because I knew this was gonna take a while.
I washed and conditioned my hair to start with a clean slate. Then, I blow-dried it straight. This part is kind of a pain, but it really helps to have your hair stretched out when you’re braiding. It makes things way easier and neater.
Next, I sectioned my hair. I started by parting it down the middle, then divided each half into smaller sections. I clipped up the hair I wasn’t working on to keep it out of the way. This is where the real work began. I took a small section of my natural hair and added in the braiding hair. It’s like, you gotta wrap the braiding hair around your own hair and start braiding it together. It’s tricky at first, but you get the hang of it.
- Braid tight: I tried to braid as tightly as possible without, you know, ripping my hair out.
- Keep it even: I also tried to keep the braids the same size throughout, but, honestly, some were definitely thicker than others. Oh well.
- Long process: This took forever! I was braiding for hours, I swear. My arms were sore, my back was aching, but I kept at it. I took breaks every now and then to stretch and give my fingers a rest.
After what felt like a million years, I finally finished all the braids. I dipped the ends in hot water to seal them. I trimmed any stray hairs and then applied some edge control gel to my edges to make them look all sleek and nice.
When I was done, I looked in the mirror and… wow! I actually did it! My braids looked pretty good, if I do say so myself. They weren’t perfect, but they were definitely giving me Beyonce vibes. I felt so proud of myself for sticking with it and getting it done. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it in the end.

Wearing these braids has been fun. I get a lot of compliments, and I feel like a whole new person. It’s a bit of a hassle to wash and maintain them, but I’m getting used to it. Would I do it again? Maybe! It’s definitely a commitment, but the results are pretty awesome. If you’re thinking about trying out Beyonce braids, I say go for it! Just be prepared for a long day, and make sure you have plenty of snacks and maybe a good movie to watch while you’re at it.
