Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to do something new with my hair for a while now. I finally decided to go for it and get some layered hair dye! I was a little nervous, but mostly excited. Here’s how it went down:
First, I spent hours scrolling through pictures online to get some inspiration. I wanted something that looked kinda natural but still had some pop, you know? After looking at tons of photos, I found a few that I really liked and saved them to show my stylist.
Next up, I booked an appointment with my usual hairdresser. She’s awesome, and I trust her completely. When I got to the salon, we chatted about what I wanted. I showed her the pictures, and she gave me her honest opinion about what would work best with my hair type and face shape. We decided on a mix of highlights and lowlights to create a layered, dimensional look.
Then, the actual dyeing process began. She carefully sectioned my hair and started applying the color. It was a long process, and I have a lot of hair, I sat there for what felt like forever, flipping through magazines and trying not to fidget too much. I remember thinking, “I hope this is worth it!” It’s pretty boring just sitting there, but, hey, beauty takes time, right?
Drying and styling
After the color processed, she washed it out. I couldn’t really tell what it looked like yet because my hair was all wet. But I was already feeling good about it. Next, she gave me a quick trim to get rid of any split ends and added some layers to enhance the color. This made a big difference.
Finally, she dried and styled my hair. When I saw the final result in the mirror, I was thrilled! It was exactly what I had envisioned. The different shades blended together perfectly, and the layers added so much movement. My stylist really nailed it! She gave me some tips on how to maintain the color and recommended a sulfate-free shampoo, which should help prevent fading, the color was so pretty that I don’t want to waste it.

- Here are some tips she gave me to maintain the color-treated hair:
- 1. Minimize heat styling
- 2. Excessive brushing
- 3. Using harsh hair products.
I walked out of the salon feeling like a new person. I’ve been getting so many compliments on my hair, and I’m absolutely loving it. If you’re thinking about getting layered hair dye, I say go for it! Just make sure you find a good stylist and communicate clearly what you want. You won’t regret it!
