Okay, so I’ve been wanting to do something cool with my room for a while, and I finally got around to it. I’m a huge fan of Super Mario, and I thought, why not make some shelves inspired by the games?

First, I went online and looked around for some ideas. I saw a bunch of stuff about “mario shelves” and “mario shelfs”. Some people had some really elaborate setups, which looked awesome but were way beyond my skills, to be honest. I wanted something simple but still recognizable.
I started sketching some designs, thinking about those classic Mario levels with the pipes and platforms. Then, I went to the hardware store and picked up some basic wooden planks and brackets. Nothing fancy, just the regular stuff.
Then, I started to measure and cut the wood. This was probably the hardest part, making sure everything was even and would fit together right. I messed up a couple of times and had to re-cut some pieces. I also sanded down the edges to make them smooth.
Next, I painted the shelves. I decided to go with the classic green for the pipes and brown for the platforms, just like in the games. I did a couple of coats to make sure the colors were solid. After the paint was completely dry, I screwed in the brackets and started assembling the shelves.
- Measured and cut the wood.
- Sanded down the edges.
- Painted the shelves green and brown.
- Screwed in the brackets.
- Assembled the shelves.
Finally, the moment of truth!
I mounted them on the wall, making sure they were level. I have to say, it wasn’t perfect, but it looked pretty darn good! I put some of my Mario figures and other collectibles on the shelves, and it really brought the whole thing together.

It’s not super fancy or anything, but I’m really happy with how my Mario shelves turned out. It was a fun project, and it definitely adds some character to my room. Plus, it was way cheaper than buying something pre-made. If you’re a Mario fan and want a cool way to display your stuff, I’d say give it a try! Just be prepared for a bit of work, and maybe a few mistakes along the way, but that is just part of the fun, right?
